Dental Marketing Ideas for the end of 2016

dental marketing ideas 2016

As we wave goodbye to the families that came in for their back to school exams and the dog days of summer, it’s time to plan your end of the year events.  Cutting Edge Practice recommends that you engage in 4 different dental marketing initiatives every month!  Here are some dental marketing ideas that you should start to implement during September 2016.

1.  Create social media and blog posts specifically for September.   September is:

  • Hispanic Heritage Month
  • Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
  • Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month
  • Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day (typically the last week in September)
  • Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month

2.  Draft your end of the year insurance letter.  Each year, you should prepare a letter or email letter reminding your patients that their insurance benefits are about to expire.  Order enough letter head and business envelopes to send the letter to each guarantor in your data base.

3.  Begin looking at Thanksgiving and holiday cards. Ordering early will ensure you get the best prices and you will have the cards well before the holiday season starts.

4.  Consider Joining the Wrigley Oral Healthcare Program.  Get free educational and promotional materials and sugar free gum to distribute to your patients.  This is a great way to get ready for Dental Hygiene Month in October.

5.  Start planning your October social media entries.  Here are a variety of opportunities for events, social media posts and blog posts:

  • Dental Hygiene Month
  • National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
  • National Diabetes Month
  • National Vegetarian Month

6. Start planning your October events.  Here are a couple events you might consider:

  • Plan a tooth brush trade in event.
  • Collect Halloween candy to send to members of the armed forces.

Preparing for dental marketing events, blog and social media posts takes time and planning.  Start by brainstorming ideas with your staff.  Getting your staff involved will create excitement for your 4th quarter dental marketing strategy!

Google Strategist Lays Out The Top 3 Google Ranking Factors for 2016

Top 3 Google ranking factorsIn a Google Hangout published today, 7-27-2016, Search Quality Senior Strategist, Google’s Andrey Lippatsev discussed the top 3 Google ranking factors for search results.  The top 3 factors for 2016 are:

  1. Website content – Content is still king! – Make sure your website has unique content that is written for people and not computers to read.
  2. External links pointing to your website – This takes into consideration the number of qualified websites linked to your website.
  3. RankBrain – RankBrain is the name of the artificial intelligence (AI) that is now being employed in every search and in Google’s algorithm.   Here is a link to a great article published in June 2016 that explains RankBrain in detail.

During this presentation, Andrey from Google also confirmed that having a mobile friendly website is also a “ranking signal”.  Listen to the entire presentation….

How do the top 3 Google ranking factors affect your internet dental marketing?

These 3 factors will affect your Google placement.   Taking steps today will provide benefits to your Google placement tomorrow!

  1. Develop your internet dental marketing strategy around these factors.   Talk to your website designer to make sure your website content is relevant, easy to read and includes text that is fresh and new.
  2. Develop a plan to ensure that respected and qualified websites are linked to your website.   Start with the easy ones like your dental society, chamber of commerce, social media and local listing sites.
  3. Re-design your website to be mobile friendly.  Mobile search is growing at an astronomical rate.  Ensuring that your website is mobile friendly matters to Google and it will matter to your patients and new patient prospects.

If you need help in creating a dental marketing strategy or developing links to your website or creating a mobile friendly website, call Sharon Kantor Bogetz at (847) 370-9131, managing partner of Cutting Edge Practice.  Remember, Cutting Edge Practice is a partner with YEXT the premier listing service for creating links to your website!

Research Shows Keyword Rich Domains Make A Significant Difference

Keyword rich domains | alternate domain names | how to use a keyword rich domain nameI have long been a proponent of using keyword rich domains (website addresses) for Internet dental marketing. Verisign has just published research that confirms my position.  On May 31, 2016, Verisign listed their results in an article entitled “How Keyword-Rich Domain Names Positively Affect Search Click-Through Results.” Using data from comScore’s U.S. consumer panel, Verisign examined more than 11 million search query results from September 2015. The results showed that visitors were twice as likely to click on a website address that matches a keyword in their query.    Read the entire article…..

How to use keyword rich domain names for search engine marketing (SEM) for your dental website

Here are a couple of ways to use a keyword rich domain name to increase the clicks for your dental website.

  • You can modify any website page address to add your keyword.    Here is an example:   http://www.ABCDentistry.com/Bridgeview_dentist   This page is dedicated to the dentist that owns ABC Dentistry.  The practice is located in Bridgeview.  The keyword for the page is:  Bridgeview dentist.  Google recommends that you separate words in a domain name with a dash or underline.
  • If you want to market whitening in Bridgeview, reserve the domain name (website address):  www.BridgeviewWhitening.com.  Work with your dental website designer to direct this new domain name to the page on your website that talks about whitening OR create a landing page for this domain and direct it or “point it to” your primary website.

Do you need help marketing your dental website?   Do you want to start using keyword rich domain names?   Contact Sharon Kantor Bogetz at (847) 370-9131 or contact us by email.   She will help you implement a SEO and SEM marketing campaign that will help prospective patients find you!
